Even as a young girl, I always loved taking every opportunity I could get to work with fabric and textiles.

As an adult, Im still a slightly obsessive collector of catalogues, patterns, and materials. Needless to say, Im the first one in line to try out crafty tutorials like this awesome knit scarf that only takes 30 minutes to make!

But my favorite DIY projects have always been ones inspired by vintage sewing patterns. Its not that I dont like contemporary fashion, but theres something so elegant and perfectly refined about patterns that were designed back in the 30s, 40s, and 50s.

I could buy fast fashion from big chains by the rack, and I still wouldnt love those clothes as much as the vintage-inspired ensembles that I can make by hand using old-fashioned patterns.

Not to mention, the patterns themselves are beautiful. Take for example Etsy seller LadyMarloweStudios, who tidies up old vintage patterns from the likes of McCall, Buttericks, and Vogue Pattern to make clean copies. The onlineshop is just full of beautiful images of the stunning and classic clothes that were popular in decades past!

Do you remember the days of hand-sewn clothing? Which of these patterns would you make? Let us know in the comments below!
