It’s the halfway point of 2016, a perfect time to take stock of the best entertainment offerings of the half-year. Check out our picks for the biggest beauty moments of the year below and since “The top 16 of 2016” is exactly 50% premature, we chose the Top 8

Also check out our lists of the best television episodes, movies, games, albumsand digital entertainment trends that have happened in the first half of 2016.

1. Non-touring

Contouring? So 2015! This year, it’s all about being fresh-faced, and the no-makeup makeup look. It’s called “non-touring,” a look that just woke up like this. The trend was born from contour fatigue and then was pushed to the forefront by natural beauties like Gigi Hadid and her baby face.

2. Rainbow hair

When 14 year old @delmains said she wanted to do hair inspired by gay pride month and in honor of the Pulse victims, I was up to the challenge. makeup- @kasey_yvonne #pravana

Love it or hate it, rainbow hair is still here. Thanks to street style darlings like model Irene Kim who arguably made rainbow hair acceptable in the high fashion realm and Instagram posts from all around the world, you can now call the trend timeless.

3. Glitter roots

Obsessing over these! How do you all feel about these looks? Love it or leave it ? #festivalhair #coachella2016 #coachella #glitterroots #boxerbraid

It was the trend born on the Internet and onto the red carpet. We’ve even replicated the trend here at Mashable, one that’s easy but extremely messy. Simply part your hair, add gel, and sprinkle some glitter. Voila! You’re ready for your next Instagram shot.

4. Highlighter

Brands like Glossier and Milk found a must-have product in their respective highlighters. It’s for those who eschew glitter but want a dewy, radiant Snapchat filter look. If you’re looking to glow, try one from the two aforementioned brands.

5. Matte lipstick

Juicy lips, be gone! This year, it was all about subtlety and non-touring, and the same applies to lip color. Instead of shimmer, guys and gals are opting for that matte look.

6. Colored freckles

Don’t ask. I don’t know. It just sorta happened. Go go gadget color wheel. WEEEEEE! Colored hair to match your … freckles? That’s right. Leave it to the Interwebs to create a cute and down right creative beauty trend. From coloring them in with lipstick, to glitter, there have been several interesting ways to apply bright colors in speckles.

Throw those tweezers out! It’s time to let those brows grow. Thanks to the likes of Cara Delevingne, bushy, luscious, and full brows have become not only accepted, but coveted.

8. Co-washing

The biggest wave in hair is not washing your hair at all. Introducing: conditioner washing, better known as Co-washing, where one forsakes shampoo altogether. It’s not an entirely new concept, but one that’s gaining steam as if leave volume, shine, and a healthy sheen to your tresses.
